All,

I have just moved down to the St Simons area, and am looking to buy a boat for inshore fishing with my 2 & 4 year old children. I'm strapped for cash, so while I figure it out, I want o find places I can put them onto fish.

Does anyone have advice on locations for any of the following:

1. Ponds / lakes / lagoons for tarpon & reds.

2. Wadeable spots for sight fishing.

3. Low tide spots for sight casting.

I very much want to teach them the joys, but am struggling with locations. Any help would be more than appreciated.

Thank you

While it is a popular and well known spot, Gould's Inlet on the north end of East Beach is a great place to take the kids and catch some fish if its not a busy weekend in June or July. I have caught many trout, flounder, sharks, and have jumped a few oversized tarpon in that inlet from the beach. It has changed a lot over the years due to hurricanes and weather but it can still be a productive and easy-to-access spot.
