I have a LT25 with a 2017 Tohatsu 20HP manual tiller short shaft. I have a Vance JPL2412SB 5'' Setback Mini-Jack Plate for Gheenoes.

Should I install the jack plate or just bolt the outboard to the transom of the Gheenoe?

Whats the pro's and con's of a jackplate? When I bought the Gheenoe LT25, it came with a new jackplate not installed.

Pro: You can jack the motor up, and run in 1-2" less of water.
Con: if you pole the motor is more in the way and the transom will sit lower in the water.

Running 1-2" more shallow might not be worth all the hassle. Seems just bolting the outboard on the transom might be the way to go.
