Newer models are a little heavier, and have a slightly different hull shape at the stern(I believe) to try and eliminate needing tabs.
But fit and finish is quite a bit better in the newer and present day models.
The both versions are some of the easiest boats to pole that I have fished on, with a slight edge going to the gen one.
My gen one side console had tabs and I will say I much prefer that aragement to the gen two because I believe they won’t sell the gen 2 with tabs and when riding in rough weather on a gen two I could see why as it rides so bow down.
I would get this skiff over a new gen 2 performance vise.
That 40 is the perfect motor for it. Mine had an etec 60 and it was just to heavy for that light boat in my opinion.
