Hey guys, My old 6 Gallon Moeller portable gas has finally shit the bed, cracked at bottom of thread
for the fuel withdrawal assembly. Have read many reviews of new tanks all mixed. Any one here have one they would recommend? Thanks in advance!

They all suck in a way. New EPA mandates won't let them vent so they blow up like balloons.....
So I say pick up another Moeller, and be prepared.

Buy the same one you have because you know it fits and you have all the fittings.

If you have a boat parts place close to you, pick up an old style vent cap. My local purveyor still had them. You can replace the new tank's cap with the old one (I have personally never done that because I follow all laws including the posted speed limits)

Why not just use the cap you have now on the new tank? Only think is many of them are not compatible. That's why I'm still using my old tank, the cap wouldn't fit the new one.

Sorry guys, maybe I wasn't clear in my description, the tank is cracked, below the male threads. I need a new tank. Not a cap issue. I do appreciate your replies though. I'm leaning to a new Moeller.

No your not understanding us. The new tanks are junk because of the cap system they use. So if you can use your old cap on the new tank then you're golden.

I ordered an old style cap off of Amazon. It fit the new 6 gallon West Marine scepter tank I recently bought.

Thanks guys, I ordered the Moeller tank. Maybe the old vent cap will fit. I appreciate all of your input and will let you know how it goes. This tank also is the correct height for my boat. Will see if my old cap fits?

New cap can be modified! No, this is one I won’t tell how! But, with a lottle research the info is out there!
