So a recent trip to the local Orvis store yielded some Dragon Tails from the fly tying section. Looks like a worm made from chenille..Some of my sacrilegious fishing buddies do quick well with Zoom trick worms on spinning gear..Wonder how these Dragon tails would do? Maybe a popper head?

Jack Gartside invented those quite a while back, they were then (re)invented/re-marketed lol by a N FL guide.

People use popper heads, some of the best top-water action I have seen from them is from a head with a wedge cut to help it dive on the strip.

Most people make a skirt with bucktail or other material and use it as a sub-surface though. They have nice action just go sparse on the collar, they get wet and can get heavy.

Also here, let me save you some money, pretty sure they're damn near the same thing. Even get a set of googly eyes to cut off and re-purpose haha.

Thanks for the info. Since top water is months away(I am in NC). I will have time to tie up a variety.
