We’ve had some success in Keith lake and the upper Texas Bayou kayaking, but I haven’t taken a skiff out there recently. It can get really shallow on a low tide. No experience out in the big lake though.

I don’t have any electronics on my boat but I know the water is hot. The clarity is has been poor, some pond holding grass and protected by the wind can have some clarity, but nothing compared to the mid coast.

Be careful on Keith Lake. They just started a dredge project and they are dumping the spoils somewhere in Keith. Watch for the dredge pipes. There really isn't much fly fishing opportunities in the main lake of Sabine or Keith. This time of year large schools of bulls will be over the deep reef in Sabine. They may come up and feed once or hundred times in a day. It can be hit or miss. You can try bait and switch or just watch for the schools.

Keith lake might be your best bet, water clarity is a hit or miss. Try the back lakes, marshes, and protected shore lines. If Sabine lake is calm and water clarity is good you’ll have good opportunities at sheepys and redfish crawling along the bank. I’ve had awesome days pushing along protected shorelines.
