I was scheduled to go to brazil the first week of march for peacock bass, but covid had another idea. So now I have a week off and no plans. Where would you go? My first three ideas were somewhere in the Bahamas bonefishing, everglades poon, or Louisiana redfishing. Pretty much anything is an option at the moment (except the seychelles)

March can be hit or miss in La. It's one our windiest months and can sometimes be a weird transitional period for the fishes. I would do a walk and wade bonefish trip in the Bahamas.

Bahamas. Depending if you want clear water. You could still get some windy spring weather.

Everglades or Louisiana. There’s some lame Covid BS in the Bahamas too. I was supposed to be there January but decided to just stay instead of waste my life doing tests and keeping a journal.

March is the one month I do not recommend fishing in LA. JM is correct. March can be good on the few days the wind isn't howling but in general its more kite season than fishing season especially with the long rod.

If you had to pick a top month to visit/fish LA, what would it be?

No month. All the redfish are in TX and FL. Seriously it really depends a lot on the amount of time you have.
Winter - Water conditions are the best IF the weather cooperates but you can easily have a week with total crap weather. And you have to put up with all the OOS yahoo "guides". Just last week at one launch I saw skiff plates from MT, CO, MI, TX, LA, MS, GA, FL, and NC. This was on ONE DAY. Freaking sick.
Spring - weather is nice (post march) but water is dirty but good tailing action when the wind doesn't blow.
Summer - freaking hot but way less people on the water and can find schools of big fish if the weather let you get to big water. Tstroms are a problem.
Fall - Still twisty storm season but if you can dodge them weather is usually stable. Before cold fronts but cooled off a bit. Water starting to clean up.

Bottom line - I tell any friends who want to come visit is that you should come for a whole week. Do tourist stuff when you can't fish. I used to say 3 day visit was minimum. Now I think 5 is minimum. I get time off is precious and hard to come by but ....I think, for example, if you can only come for 3 days its smarter to only come every other year but for 6 days.

Went in Nov, easy, just get a rapid test before you go and test before you fly back. Visa takes 5 minutes to apply and a couple of hours to be processed, not a big deal at all. Going back in Mar and maybe in May. Nothing lame about it. The website mentions a daily check in, but they are not doing it if you are at a fishing lodge, think it is more for the casino crowd.

Only people complaining about it are the people that have not gone there, anyone who has gone says it is no issue at all.

March is a great time to fish the interior of the Everglades, out of either Flamingo or Chokoloskee/ Everglades City… We have the same wind days everyone else has but also have miles and miles of creeks, rivers and bays - where there’s always places to fish that can be so sheltered that you never notice any winds…
That's also where the giant tarpon show up in numbers every year before you can find them anywhere else - and they’re just loafing and hanging out before the spawning migration gets started…
Just nothing like the ‘glades.

Hard to complain about it when I just said I didn't go.....I talked to two lodges and they said they were following the guidelines. That was October calling about January. Either way Im fishin everyday in the Keys so its whatever.

Many of us don’t want anything to do with masks, tests, mandates or anything else to do with this bullshit. If they want my money they’ll respect my freedoms. If they don’t want my money I guess they can take it from others willing to test the communist medical passport system. I love to fish but not enough to play their games.
