If you tried this in Florida, FWC would probably haul you away
for damaging the environment. I guess Louisiana has always
been a little more laid back when it comes to getting muddy.

That'd be awesome in the NE Florida mud, except for all the submerged oysters, shells and rocks. ;D Just imagine not even having to worry about the tides... :)

Mud motor used to be a noe in this area with one on it.

Those things are fun to play with, but if you look carefully, you will notice that they allow a boat to go where it has no business, i.e. on land. You all are lucky that your local laws discourage the darn things. The best hunting in Louisiana is where mud motors aren't allowed. Nothing disturbs a beautiful morning in the marsh more than some fool blowing through your decoys with a Go-Devil or mud boat. Shuts off the redfish too. Airboats are just as bad.

I firmly believe that remote shallow water should be the exclusive domain of those who are willing to work to get there, not those who can turn a key. Reserve mud motors for the game wardens and the disabled. If I can't get there with an outboard, I'll get out the pushpole or the paddle.

I guess it is obvious that I've hunted a lot of public land.

I see them all of the time. Maybe not the same brand but darn similar. One of the engine companies advertises theirs as "The Ultimate Flats Motor."

They chew hell out of Oyster bars.
