ok. Since Brett has aquired a new title of Google Master I have decided to try and challenge his Googling. Anybody whom has an idea please post up. Let's see if Jan really did pick the right guy! ;D

    First Challenge:

Who was the first person to fly fish?
*Note, there is probably no record of whom was first, but as far as recorded history, when did fly fishing start and who is responsible for ticking me off with this ignorant fishing technique?.

I'll play, I'll try one question each day.
I've got a life, but I'm not so busy I can't deal with one a day.

Curtis, I hope you like reading.
Apparently there are a multitude of opinions.
It's an obscure subject that's become a personal obsession
for specific people. That means they spent a ton of time
    and money researching the possibilities.
    Enjoy the read, err, reads.

    I liked this one:

    Using Google

    1. Find multiple examples of other websites referring users to for information. Provide examples and searches used.

    2. Efficiently search for common topics like jack plate, push pole, tunnel hull, boat ramps. Provide best examples and searches used

    3. Create a unique image search that shows images from users forum posts. Examples and search string again.....

    3 questions, 3 days
Looks interesting, I'm going to have to learn exclusionary filtering.
Tomorrow is going to be fun, thanks Tom.

I'll do # 2 now since it's one I use regularly because the yaBB search
    doesn't function all that well.

In the Google search window use this format...

    "text string to search for"

    "push pole"

    search result:

Image searches, google already has that as a standard search.
Google home page, upper left corner, images

In the image search window input...

result is a listing of every picture on the microskiff website

Comments on other websites referring to
turned out to be a simple search. Googles search algorithm
automatically lists the domain as the first find, then excludes
further listing of content from the website. Then displays all other
uses of according to the algorithm's popularity determinations.

    In the google search window...

Not bad but to achieve master status you need to at least use some of the advanced options.

Using advanced image search set the following options

Related to the exact phrase =
    Content types = photo content
    Filetypes = jpeg (optional)

    picky picky picky...

    all you asked for was:

Note the use of the word "images", not "filetype".

If you wanted to specialize by file format use the focused search format in the image search...

You want a specific have to ask a specific question... ;)

If you include the site: or inurl: you will get less results because it will only display pictures hosted on the site vs. those in img tags.

More efficient would be jpg OR jpeg OR tif OR png

I choose to leave out gif because the format is not usually used for photos

Just having fun....... Google hacking is a hobby of mine after seeing johnny long speak a few years back at defcon.

I make no claims to being an IT pro.
I was volunteered for this spot.
    First rule in life...never volunteer!
What I know about computers was learned by breaking and fixing my own.

I look here for my filtering possibilities:

Would you be able to find an old episode from Miami peacock bass fishing? It was from Alan Zaremba and Shaw Grigsby. I believe they were either fishing in the Blue Lagoon, or somewhere in Doral. I believe the name of the show was "One More Cast". But I might be wrong on that.

If you can find some footage of it, you would be the almighty Googler.

Here's a description of the episode.

"One More Cast with Shaw Grigsby 7:30 PM - 8:00 PM Miami Peacocks Shaw and Captain Alan Zaremba ply the crystal clear canals in and around Miami, Florida for that exotic, colorful battler, the peacock bass. Throw in a tarpon, some largemouth bass and other species, and brilliant underwater shots and you have an unforgettable fishing adventure in the city."
