I borrowed a Fitec gs1500, 3/8 mesh 8’ long and 1.5lbs per foot. I am new to cast netting and will only use one on rare occasions but thought I would get my own. This net feels a little heavy to throw and the 3/8 mesh resulted in the white baits, green backs I think they are called, getting stuck in the net so seems a 1/4” mesh is needed. 8’ seems ok but I’m interested in recommendations on what brand I should buy, whether I should drop down to 1lb per foot and anything else you might suggest for 4-8 foot water depths and the small white baits. I have a 7' Betts. Used to use it a lot when my grandsons where small and we bait fished out of my boat. Now I don't use it since they grew up and are fly fishing. Still have it and it's in great shape. I'd wash it down after a trip then hang it off the ground from my deck till dry them roll it up and store it in the garage. If I every get another I'll get a Tim Wade

Man I don't know what mine weighs or size of mesh, I just sling it. Caught pogies, gizzards, pilcherds and bream and bass
