Tried this out today and I’m sort of happy with the results. I didn’t save any money vs just buying one but i think it’s cooler than buying one. Still need to add trim to the top and 5200 it into the channel on the starboard

Nice! Yeah the cost of starboard in small quantities makes it hard to justify building one yourself. Unless, of course, you want to do something cool that's not currently on the market! Looks good!

How did you form the carbon fiber tube?

I used a 14” concrete tube form and 2 carbon fiber sleeves

Hopefully you have better luck than I did. I've not been able to get anything to bond well to starboard. Not even 5200.

You’ve got to flame treat it with a torch
