Picked up a new to me boat that lacks any storage for my tackle or other things I need to keep dry. I’ve been looking at various dry boxes such as yeti go box, roam boxes, etc. but nothing has really stood out. I would like something heavy enough that it doesn’t really move a whole lot while running and trailering. I’m also considering just using a cheaper yeti alternative roto molded cooler as a dry box too. Any opinions or suggestions appreciated. Thanks.

A couple of these might work for you. I love Plano because they are made in USA and fairly affordable. I ran across this last month at the tackle shop. I’m about to buy two for my skiff.

I went down this road myself with my Santee. Not much dry storage on it and ultimately, I just decided to use an inexpensive Rtic 45 cooler. It's heavy enough to stay put while running. I can stand on it if need be and it has plenty of room for what I take on the water for the day. After 3+ years, still haven't found anything that works better.

Check out this one if you want something bigger than the yeti. Magellan Outdoors Pro 50 L Waterproof Gear Box | Academy

they make them in 22, 50 and 92L. Great boxes that open from both sides. If you order one make sure it comes with the divider and tray. I got two from Academy that didn't include them and had to return one before they figured it out.

I have a couple of these boxes and they work pretty good. The latches want to pop off when they are not latched but otherwise nice for the price. I keep them in my garage to store reels and lines. With the right Plano boxes to fit inside they’d be pretty slick

I’ve also thought about using the boxes that are made for the decked drawers system. They have a handle on top and seem to be a little heavier built than the Plano boxes

Nanuk are the best value out there in my opinion. Even compared to the Yeti it has better features. It’s not the cheapest but also not near the most expensive.

The Apache boxes at Harbor Freight are tough to beat if on a budget.

I own both and have not had any issues with either

I picked a couple of these "instaCrate" boxes at Costco for storage in my Vantage. They fold so you can get them through a hatch door that is smaller than the box. You can't stand on them but they don't add much weight and are less than $10 each. I put Dri-Dek on each side so they don't move. BTW, they do not have lids and are not dry since they fold.
