Biscayne 170 Jack plate/cav plate/trim tabs

I have a biscayne 170 on order with a 40hp tohatsu tiller. I would like to know if anyone has experience running this boat with a Jack plate, a cav plate, and/or electric trim tabs.

mine is coming with spring-trim tabs(not electric) and without a Jack plate or cav plate.

Any recommendations on any of the above? And does anyone have an opinion on whether these additions do/don’t make a difference on the biscayne 170?

Thanks!

What are spring trim tabs? That’s a new one for me to be honest.
I haven’t seen them in person nor do I know really anything about them- but they’re what’s coming on the used skiff I’m purchasing. With a pin they lock in place parallel to the hull, when the pin is released, they extend to a different angle… I don’t entirely understand them myself… or whether or not they’re fixed in place at a “down” position or if they become like a self-leveling trim tab.

Ditch the auto tabs and get real Lenco or Bennett tabs you can control.

Are you grabbing the one in the classifieds? Thing looks amazing, would love to hear how you like it for Texas 👍

I have a 170 side console with Yamaha 40 that has both an atlas micro jack plate and Lenco trim tabs on the skiff. I generally run the skiff with one click down on the tabs just to keep it from lightly bouncing while running.
I run Bennet SLT tabs on my lil 14’ skiff, and they do work, but on a bigger boat the electric adjustable tabs would definitely be the better option.
