Did Johnson basically drop the spx designation? The bilge pump I bought was a johnson xps, had xps on the package, thought it was an upgrade, but now they are just listed as Johnson pumps everywhere.

I didn't install it yet. I actually bought it to drain a pool. It was not ideal but it worked.
It's a 3/4" outlet but I hooked it to a 5/8" hose that ran 30+ feet away with 5ft of elevation, so it had to work much harder then if it were on a boat. It ran for like 2 days straight and drained I think 8000 gallons.

I usually just 5200 the base in. I don't know what you would screw it to unless you have a fairly thick cored hull.

Use 5200 or something like it because it's flexible. If you use epoxy it could crack loose.
