I've been using sand fleas for bait when surf fishing for years,
but this was a new one for me. I thought maybe someone had been dropping
steroids in the gulf off of Destin, Fl when my kid caught this thing last week.

For a scale reference, each finger joint is about an inch long.

That's the biggest mole crab I've ever seen!

I caught one about that size during last years pompano run and I thought the same thing. ..wonder if IGFA is accepting submissions for mole crabs cuz that looks like a winner!

At first I thought it was in a 3 year old kids hand. It is HUGE

When she caught it my kid thought it was a male.
But a quick web search that evening showed it was a different specie.

Common name is a Webster's mole crab, the ones I normally find are Atlantic mole crabs.
