Look into a TFO, NXT .kit in 8/9. Reasonably priced and billed as a great beginners outfit. I believe they are used in casting classes. Or get to a local fly shop or club. Believe there is something close to Charleston. There are some low country guys on here that will probably chime in.

Hey jack. I have a brand new st croix Rio santo 8 wt 4 pc. Still in the factory wrap. 89.00:
.add 8.89 for shipping. Perfect for what you need under 100.00. Jim
I think a good fiberglass rod will help you to learn what it feels like to “ load the rod “ , quicker , than learning w a graphite rod. Send me a pm , ive got too many . I’ll send you a couple

that’s a really nice offer- get yourself an inexpensive reel- all you need for reds- a decent line- State Fish Rob can likely suggest one for the rod- and go fishing!
Hats Off to State Fish Rob.... This is what it’s all about and wish I seen more of it.
