I finally broke down and decided to install a 12v system. I need to secure a battery box in the bow but since I don't have hatches and the entire box needs to be removable.

Would it be possible to attach a simple tie down kit to a strip of starboard or something similar and glue it down with 5200? I figured I should probably do the same in the rear for the fuel tank.

Use a piece of wood. Starboard does not like glues.

I'm assuming I would need to epoxy coat the strip of wood before sticking it down with 5200?

Get a piece of hardwood and not necessary. Depending what kind you choose you may have to redo it in 10 years. Softwoods will work but lifespan will be short.
