    Hi Microskiff,
This is my first post and I am currently searching for my first skiff/boat. I've done some homework and ready to jump in. From reviews out there it seems like the Ankona Copperhead gets you the best bang for your buck. I was originally interested in the Shadowcast 16 but decided to look for something with a wider beam for more stability.

With: hull, poling platform, motor, trailer, electrical package and live well I priced the following

    Copperhead - 25hp tiller w/ yam 14.5k or
    go w/ 30hp CC w/ yam for 16.9k

Can also do the Native 14'6" w/ tiller 20hp yam for 12.4k.

Any owners opinions, thoughts or other recommendations would be much appreciated. I need all the help I can get!

If you are looking used, I can put you in contact with a guy who is going to be selling his copperhead this month. PM me for information.

If you just looking for opinions on which boat is better buying new, this should likely be moved to the General Discussion tab. Run a search for both boats and you are bound to find pages of information on both.

Welcome to the forum and good luck with your quest for your boat.

Great. I am in the market for a skiff and Ankona is at the top of my list. Wanted to get some second opinions before I pull the trigger. I will send you a PM, thanks

A copperhead with a 25 isn't going to be able to get out of its own way, I'd get the biggest motor you can afford.

I'm currently looking for a used copperhead or having one built. If I go the route of having one built, I'm think I want it ultralight, lodge edition, side console with a 40 hp. I have a 25hp etec on my current boat and Ankona told me it would push a lodge copperhead 24/25 mph.

I have a Copperhead - currently running a 40 Etec with 4 blade prop. Had a Etec 30 for two years - with a 3 blade cupped SS prop it would run 29 WOT. Center console, Yeti, and me.

That said, I would NEVER put an Etec 25/30 on a Copperhead again even if barebones tiller. Night and day difference with the 40. PM me if you have any questions.

Current wait time on a new Copperhead is about 6 months. It has been longer in the past, I understand.

Well I trust the source and it seems reasonable to me that a barebones copperhead could hit 24 mph with at 25 hp ETEC. I've been on a gen 1 with a yam 25 hp that would go a little faster than that.

I will definitely go with 40+ HP if I go the Copperhead route. What would you guys recommend between Native 14' and Skimmer Skiff 14'?

I own a skimmer skiff 14 and I love it, I'm running a 25 merc 2 stroke, and it's more power than you need, for the price it's hard to beat a skimmer, I would definitely recommend them

I thought that console controlled Copperheads were rated up to 60hp. I'm sure that would make the skiff fly.

I have a 2010 Copperhead side console with a 40 Tohatsu. Love my boat, don't have it listed. But for the right price I guess anything is for sale.
