Taking the skiff over to Alligator Point, Fl for the weekend and was wondering if there's much for sight fishing that coastline of the Gulf? My experience there has been blind casting jig heads in deeper grass flats for trout mostly. Heard they've seen tarpon rolling around there so may explore around for any signs of 'em. If anyone's got any suggestions for how to fish around there I'd appreciate it for sure.

Spent many of summers there as kid. Mostly googan shit, dropping squid on premade wire leaders with lead. Caught more sailcats than anything with a surprise seatrout or flounder to keep my dad going. Lots of great memories fishing/crabing and gill netting. Went back years ago and learned the good stuff. Low tide window is small but can be epic. Pole around the shallows and you’ll find em. Winter time is my fav. Longer sight fishing windows and less noseeums.

Tarpon are there too. Just gotta put in your time.

Take your boat out to inside of Turkey point and start around the middle section. Get out of your boat and wade heading West. Fly or spin, you will see some good reds on LOW TIDE cruising for dinner!

I fished there two weekends ago (see my post on solo Tarpon and scroll down for the video highlights) The comments before mine are good. Find a good flat that you can anchor on whether on shore or slightly off, and scan the water. (bring binoculars and also watch what other boats are doing butkkeep a respectful distance) I must have stopped at a half dozen spots before I saw fish and posted up. That took from daylight to about 10am. Then 10 mins after posting up, I started getting shots. Had two come at me then seven, then hooked up on a single. I saw the tail and the surface ripples before seeing the fish. 90 minutes later I brought a nice 59 inch fish to the boat.
