Albury 18 Hull

I have decided to put my Albury up for sale. This is one of the very first fiberglass hulls built by Edwin in 1970. This boat served as a commercial lobster boat in the Abacos for most of its life. It was towed over from the Bahamas with the intention of restoring it. We went through a fairly significant effort to get the boat a true Albury Brothers title from the state of Florida. This involved an FWC agent making several trips to the Bahamas (poor guy) to make contact with previous owners. In the end the boat was older than the Albury’s records so while they were able to confirm it was Albury built, the State would only allow us to get a Homemade title. I have all the paperwork associated with this process and am happy to share it with interested parties.

I bought the Hull with the intention of bringing it back to life. However my business is growing rapidly and taking up more of my time than anticipated. I’ve decided I’d rather move on to a boat I can use right away and pass this awesome opportunity along to someone else.

Included in the sale is the hull, cap, and a not fantastic but not terrible trailer. The trailer is in good enough shape for the boat to sit on while working on and for short trips but doesn’t have a title or registration.

I also have the digital files for the official Bahamas Albury logo which I will give to the new owner. I got them from another member who got them from the Albury’s in the Abacos.

This boat is a tank and is very deserving of a resurrection. I’m hopeful that another member sees the same potential I did and is excited to take on the project. There is no doubt a lot of work to be done, but most of the very difficult parts of taking the boat apart have already been done.

Boat is located in Melbourne, FL.

Price: $3,500 Now $3,000

I saw your add on Craigslist. If I had a bigger motor laying around I'd be very tempted. Is the hull solid glass, or is it glass over a wood core? From what I read (which could be wrong) the first solid glass hull was built in 1985. Someone will restore this classic.

For what it's worth, Chris Morejohn told me this hull would run great with a 70hp. The guy I bought it from has one he restored and it has a 115 Etec on it. He says it's more than enough power.

It is solid glass, no wood core. The boat is heavy duty for sure. In fact, I feel like the stringers could be left as is. They feel very solid.

I also read that the Albury's didn't build fiberglass boats until the mid 80s, but the title says 1970. When I talked to Chris Morejohn about the boat he confirmed it was built by Edwin Albury. It's a very similar boat to the spanish wells skiff that he designed.
Great news. It will be nice to see someone restore that classic.
