So my dad had an 06 tohatsu 9.8 4 stroke sitting in his garage for the last 3 years that he never used.  He decided to give it to me and he shipped it from Chicago.  70 dollars I thought it was cheap.

The problem I have is he took the lower unit off to fit in the box.  The motor came apart easy enough but the rod that shifts into reverse/neutral/forward won't line up for me in the lower unit.  The drive shaft fit perfectly but I can't get the shift rod to line. What am I doing wrong?  I'll take some pictures later.  Thanks for the help guys.

Only fits one way, hope it hasn't been bent during packing and shipping :p
