i bought a 1968 kiekhaefer mercury 200 20hp for my cherokee. its in really good shape but hasnt been used in 10 years and the steering is siezed. its a tiller motor, so how do you free the steering? also how do you separate the middle of the outboard to get to the shifter? because its alittle stiff and needs to be greased (right before the lower unit) right now the block and lower unit is off the motor.
    thanks

Use a 50/50 mix of aft and acetone and dribble it on the stuck parts. Keep at it and it will penetrate, not a squirt and done project.

Just dabb it everywhere, and often, and give it some time.

Replace the old crank seals while it's apart.
