Repowering my skiff and wondering if anyone has any issues with merc, Been Yamaha my whole life but the mercury is $500 cheaper and less wait time any reason I should hold out for Yamaha

As a Merc 50 EFI owner, she does all I need her to do. I get great MPG (8-9), have a service center close, and installed my own Command Thrust module which helps keep track of hours, trips, and any faults should they appear. She isn’t the lightest 50 EFI four stroke at 247 pounds but all things considered Mercury is a good choice.

With the cost of outboards these days it’s a hard to choose.
Stick with Yamaha you won’t be kicking yourself later.

They’re the same block and rotating assembly. 60 is the same motor btw. We had Merc 60s on tour boats I used to run. The new set had 4000+ hours when I left. The old set had 12,000.
