    On January 24, 2015, Kids Community College is proud to announce the 1st Annual KCC Winter Fishing Classic. This is a family-friendly, saltwater tournament to benefit KCC. Whether you have a boat or not, everyone can participate in this fun event. The mandatory captain’s meeting will be held at Kaz’s Seafood Dive on 1/22/2015 at 6:00 pm. The tournament will be based out of E.G. Simmons Park in Ruskin at Pavilion #17. There will be food, games, and prizes throughout the day. We are currently looking for volunteers and sponsors for the event. Below are rules and details about the tournament and the sponsorship levels.     KCC Winter Fishing Classic

    -Saturday, January 24, 2015.

    -MANDATORY registration and captain's meeting on Thursday, 1/22/15 at 6:00-7:00 pm, at Seafood Dive in Apollo Beach.

    -Each team MUST bring their measuring device, to be approved by tournament officials, to the captain’s meeting on 1/22/2015.

    -$25.00 entry fee per adult angler, $12.00 per child 15 and under. Fees MUST be paid by the captain’s meeting on 1/22/2015. Entry fee pays for park entry of $2.00 and 1 meal at weigh in. Anglers will need to pay their own boat launch fee of $5.00 to the park if you launch from the site.

    -Weigh-in will be after the tournament at E.G. Simmons Park Pavilion #17 at 3:00-4:00 pm on 1/24/2015. Anglers MUST be at E.G. Simmons Park, 2401 19th Ave NW, Ruskin, FL 33570, Pavilion #17 NO LATER THAN 4:00 pm on 1/24/2015. Anglers arriving at 4:01pm will be disqualified.

    -This is a catch-photo-and-release tournament. Each angler/boat/team must provide at least one digital camera with a clear memory card (preferred) or cell phone pictures will be allowed.

    -Hook and line gear ONLY. Anglers may use live bait, frozen bait, cut bait, artificial lures, or fly-fishing gear.

    -Anglers must choose what division they want to fish; boat or shore. Boat anglers may fish from a boat, canoe, kayak, or paddleboard, etc. Shore anglers may fish from a shoreline, dock, bridge, pier, etc.

    -Boat Division: Largest inshore slam (Snook/Redfish/Spotted Sea Trout) total to the nearest ¼ inch will win. Snook, redfish, and trout of any size may be measured towards the slam total.

    -Shore Division: Point System by Species: Snook – 3 points, Redfish – 3 points, Spotted Sea Trout – 3 points, Mangrove Snapper – 2 points, Founder – 2 points, Sheepshead – 2 points, Black Drum – 2 points, Jack Crevalle – 1 point, Ladyfish – 1 point, Catfish – 1 point.

    -Anglers can launch and fish anywhere on the West Coast of Florida, but lines may not be in the water prior to 7:00 am.

    -The whole fish must be in the picture along with approved measuring device and tournament marker. Pictures that do not meet tournament requirements will not be counted.

    -Required USCG safety gear must on board for those anglers fishing from a boat. Angler must also possess a valid Florida saltwater fishing license and adhere to all state fishing regulations. KCC tournament anglers will also show courtesy to other tournament and recreational anglers.

    -Family fun, games, food and raffles will take place starting at 2:00. Weigh in is between 3:00–4:00. Awards and prizes will be given out after 4:00.
