Hello All,

I recently purchased a 2015 13' Gheenoe and the front and rear bench have these rusted screw hole spots where I am assuming a seat had been attached previously? What is the best way to remove the old and replace with newer as I would like to add a seat for my kid on the front bench? I am new to this whole boat thing, so I am cautions when doing some things so I don't personally ruin my small investment.

Also, what would I look for to replace the rusted ones once removed? (ie... What are they called?)

Thank youin advance for any help or knowledge.

Look on West Marine or Boat Outfitters for a folding seat. Make sure to use stainless steel for any screws, bolts, nuts, washers ect. that you need to mount it. It’d help to see the whole boat to see exactly what would be needed.

Thank you for that info. My Gheenoe is really unmolested by any prior owner other than a homemade grab bar made from PVC pipe that I hope to replace one day with something sturdier, but for now it works fine and the snap-on gheenoe leather cushion for the back bench..

You could go multiple routes a regular folding seat, a cushion like you have in the back or a raised seat. We have a raised front seat on our 15 classic. I’d probably suggest a regular folding seat. Haven’t noticed much less stability from adding the raised seat but it might affect the 13 more.

Yeah I am thinking a folding seat up front for my little one would probably be best. He would sit better for longer periods I would think. More time he sits and enjoys the breeze, the more fishin I can do from it. LOL!

I think it the best option. Standing up and fishing in the gheenoe is sometimes a challenge but not to hard if your young and agile like me.

I am far from "young and agile"... LOL! I can stand and drive, but the stand and fish is a learning thing for me as I get my sea legs...

Hey Fatsbaby nice looking "unmolested" 13 it doesnt evev have one cupholder attached with nonstainless screws! Whatever type seat you choose please make it white:')

Also, it may be a little work but a forever fix to the seat mounting question is cutting out an access hole and adding a screw on lid. You may need to remove a little foam to reach the mounting holes but once done with stainless hardware you never have to access again. If you decide to remove the seat permanently to add a deck it is easy peezy. I usually put a few bucks some matches and a couple cheap emergency rain ponchos, and the registration in a small waterproof bag inside the cavity cause you never know!

Enjoy that 13 it is a forever keeper to pass along someday to your new fishing partner........

The thing is basically cherry! And the motor is a 2020, so it is pretty much brand new. The new seat will 100% be white in color.

I could feel the foam through the bolt holes that are rusted out. I had been thinking of adding an access hole with a screw on lid to the front and rear benches. It is definitely something I will be passing down to my fishing partner. This was our first of many future trips.

Oh yeah that boat should be in the family slaying fish for years to come. Heck, you might as well tell him someday he will be attempting to impress a girlfriend with a cruise down the river and he will think back and remember when you told him that.

I feel so blessed, I only paid $2200 for it and plan on keeping it forever after seeing everyone everywhere posting that they wish they would have kept theirs instead of selling. Plus it is my first real boat (at 45rs old) besides kayaks.
