I have a Minn Kota 55lb thrust bow mount trolling motor and Minn Kota says a group 24, 70-85 Ah battery is “good”. https://minnkota.johnsonoutdoors.com/us/support/trolling-motor-installation-guides/trolling-motor-wiring-and-battery-guide. Looking at batteries I found a Duracell Marine RV Deep...

Hey all, I'm currently in the build process of a new skiff and working through the accessory options on the table. Boat is being built by Biscayne Boatworks and I chose to go with their newer 18' model. I'll be posting pics in a week or so once the custom gel color arrives and the hull begins...

Hey folks, just saw the announced new line-up for the spot-lock Minn Kota series. Looking for a bit of advice as I haven't used a trolling motor since about age 12. Personally looking at the Minn Kota Riptide Terrova 12 volt, 55# thrust with 48" shaft (my boat is small, light, with anticipated...

Motor Guide Xi5 Wireless Saltwater 80lb 48" with Pinpoint GPS. Brand new still in box with receipt bought just a couple months ago never used just sitting in box in my garage. Was planning on putting it on a project boat I have been working on but have decided to not do a trolling motor now...

I recently purchased a transom mount TM for my gheenoe highsider. It seems the majority of build I see have the trolling motor mounted on the bow. I like the idea of being able to switch between outboard and trolling motor relatively seamlessly, while remaining in the same spot closer to the...

I have a gheenoe 15'4". I am looking to get a trolling motor with spot lock. The smallest ones I've seen are 55lb thrust. Does anyone know of a spot locking trolling motor smaller? Maybe 35lb. Or would a 55lb trolling motor be an ok size for a gheenoe?

Power pux is on sale for $375 and I figured I would pick one up for the build. Something I never considered was the orientation of the trolling motor stored on either the left or right side, What’s everyone’s preference and why do you prefer it that way?

Looking to add a GPS Remote Trolling motor to my 16' skiff (400 - 500 lb weight) and wanted to see if anyone has suggestions on the best for the money. Also what LB Thrust should I be using? I will do some current fishing so that is a factor on Thrust. Thanks!

What size trolling motor would anyone recommend for the cayo 180?

Alright so I will try to make this as simple as possible, I like to run my trolling motor batteries completely independent of the other system as it helps me figure out the gremlins if there’s an issue with either system meaning my trolling motor batteries have their own onboard charger and are...

I have a J14 Carolina Skiff looking to upgrade the fishing game quick a bit. What is the cheapest way to go about getting a spot lock bow mounting trolling motor. I do have a Garmin unit but willing to upgrade my GPS system too if I have to. If anyone has a spot lock trolling motor unit for...

I recently bought a 2003 Hewes Redfisher 16 and curious what everyone is doing for their trolling motor set up. Battery placements, what kind of batteries, onboard chargers and placement etc. I have a minn Kota 24v Ipilot I plan on mounting to the bow but was interested in seeing some peoples...

So I'm about to run wiring through my Gheenoe for my trolling motor. It's a 45 lbs. Minn Kota Riptide and pulls 42 max amps. When everything is said and done, the wiring will run between 15-20 ft. According to the charts on Minn Kota's website, if I go to 20 ft. I need to be running 4 awg...
  14. Fly Fishing
Curious if anyone has input on casting a fly rod while a trolling motor is deployed. I do a lot of fly fishing on my own and am considering adding a TM to the bow of my skiff. (I currently have a casting platform at the front of the bow - not on the bow hatch). It seems like it might impede...

The other day while fishing I noticed my tm start squeaking more and more throughout the day. I was in anchor mode and when I was ready to continue my track, it randomly started running slow on me. I pulled it out of the water and it seemed like the prop slipped outwards. I could spin the prop...

Curious on feedback for placing a trolling motor on a Maverick HPX-V. I have my platform at the very tip of the bow, which I really like. To leave this as is, I would have to install a trolling motor either port or starboard side of the bow. Any feedback on performance with this type of set...

Hey folks, I did some searching but wasn’t able to find any discussions on this (in regards to motorguide). I made some phone calls to motorguide to ask them the main difference between the fresh vs saltwater trolling motors and I was surprised to hear that the only difference was the saltwater...

Hey guys/gals. New here this is my first post. Picked up a used viper 19ft flats boat, and am trying to get her up to speed. I’ve read elsewhere that they tend to squat in the back at idle/ rest. The trolling motor it came with BARELY sits in the water, definitely need a longer shaft but don’t...
