Whats everyone’s thoughts on matching rod/reel WTs? Would it be the end of the world putting a 8wt reel on a 9wt rod?

Thanks for the ad. Grew up in Michigan, moved to So. California where I picked up fly fishing and moved to Alaska 15 years ago where I fish to fill the freezer. Just bought my first switch rod so will be trying my hand at two handed casting this year.
