Ski boat conversion to flats skiff

Hey guys and gals. This thread is mainly for someone who is thinking of getting into boat rehab or conversion. Few words about myself. I always wanted a skiff or a flats boat to go to Florida Keys and do some fishing. Have recently purchase inflatable zodiac which I kind of liked but it wasn’t exactly what I was hopping for in boating fishing experience so I have looked into boat rehab and found and purchased ($100.00) this 14ft unknown manufacturer ski boat speed boat. Boat has no vin numbers anywhere on the hull so I can’t even tell what make model or year this thing is. Maybe someone will recognize it let me know what it is that I’m converting. Any how it’s has been few month of part time work with no prior experience in boat building of any kind. I’ve been reading forums looking at YouTube and taking it one step at a time. I will be posting progress photos and questions as I move along. Work that was completed to this date: demolition, new transom, new overkill stringers, new floor, flipped the boat and stripped old paint off, faired all stress cracks and deep scratches out and re-gelcoted all in white.

Left to do checklist: all above the floor bulkheads, electrical wiring, engine mount, steering, controls, assemble new top cap, fairing and gelcoating the rest and rub rail.

When I’m done I’m planing to put current 70hp Yamaha F70 so my question is will it be too much power or just right. Boat will have two passanger two coolers, 12 gallon fuel tank, diving gear, fishing rigs etc.

Welcome! Please post photos. The bragging section is where most members post their rebuild threads, and has much more traffic if you have specific questions. I can't answer your question regarding the appropriate hp motor for your boat, but if you post some photos someone may chime in. My first impression is that 70hp on a 14' boat is prob too much but that's without seeing anything...
